An interpretation of
“The Ex-Ara”
by
Giovanni Battista Guadagnini,
Turin, 1785 AI012
Available sizes:

G.B. Guadagnini is considered one of Italy’s finest
makers, producing a large number of violins, but
relatively few violas.
This viola, made in Turin,
towards the end of his industrious career is typical of
the smaller shape and size he commonly used. This viola
is a superb model to reproduce in smaller sizes,
offering a mezzo quality without the resulting loss in
projection.
Handmade and hand varnished
viola.
Two piece back in selected highly figured maple with
matching ribs and scroll; table in two pieces of
selected spruce of narrow grain.
Hand applied varnish with an antiqued aspect.
Rosewood pegs with Paris eye, matching tailpiece and
chinrest.
Fitted French Despiau bridge and fitted high quality sound post.
